IBS-TH2 - draining batteries in just a few days

Hi,

Anyone with a solution…I’m using 8 X IBS-TH2 sensors with an IBS-M2 gateway…all sensors are in the same room within range but half of them run through fresh batteries in just around a week… which is insane an not sustainable…

Anyone experienced that…or has a fix for that problem or should I just return the sensors to amazon…

Inkbird is not providing any fix or clear answer on the issue…

Thank you!

Hello,
Maybe you can provide the order details, and answers to the following information to email support@inkbird.com to get after-sales service.

  1. Ambient temperature and humidity
  2. Type of battery used
  3. Time interval setting of the sensor
  4. Do you frequently connect the sensor to check the data?

These can help engineers identify problems more quickly.
Thanks.

Hi Tania,

Please see below:

1-Ambient temperature and humidity

Between 15-25C and 25-75%HR

2-Type of battery used

Brand new fresh prime quality alkaline batteries

3-Time interval setting of the sensor

Every 4 hours

4-Do you frequently connect the sensor to check the data?

A few times a day. We have 8 sensors installed. About half of them consume batteries like crazy (only a few days and the batteries are dead). The other half are still on the same batteries.

I saw on many forums that lots of people have the same issue.

Let me know if you have a fix for this otherwise I will return around 6 sensors to Amazon.

Thank you,

Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries last a long time.

Could you kindly send the order details and this information to email support@inkbird.com?
The support team will assist with after-sales service.
Thanks.

Hi Tania,

Are you saying there is no fix? IT’s an amazon purchase, should I return the item via Amazon or should I get some replacement units with you. I got 7 units our of 13 with that problem…

Thank you

Thank you. I got alkaline batteries now - good brand and fresh but no luck on battery life for 7 units out of 13…
I’ll try the lithium ones. Would you say top lithium rechargeable batteries are worth it for this?

Thank you!

The energizer is more than worth it. I tried a brand off Amazon (powerowl) and they increased the length but not nearly as much as the energizer lithium. I have been using them in my pond thermometer and the battery is still almost fully charged at over one month. My pond is heated to 7 degrees Celsius.

I have the same problem with 1 out of 2. Emailed support, but they don’t respond. Will give them a few days more, but I’m worried there’s something wrong with their quality. Will buy a different brand the next time.

Hello,

Thanks.

How long does it usually take for them to reply? There’s nothing in my spam.

They will probably respond within 24 hours.
If you don’t receive a response, it may be because they didn’t receive the email. Please adjust your email settings and send the email again.
Thanks.

They take longer than 24 hours to respond. They offered to replace one sensor. After the sensor arrived, the second sensor in my original order also drained the battery very quickly. So both sensors I ordered were dead on arrival. The quality is very bad and I advise people to not buy these sensors anymore. Now I am waiting for customer service to respond again, but I don’t think I want a replacement, but just a full refund so I can buy a reliable brand.

The same Inkbird sensors I bought years ago don’t have this problem, it’s a shame they don’t make good sensors anymore. It’s better to buy the very cheap Zigbee type sensors from some unknown Chinese seller.

Sorry to hear about this .
I have discussed the issue with the engineers, and they take it very seriously.

I don’t see the option to send you a message. Maybe my account is not allowed to message you.

Hi Lex,

I definitely think there is something wrong with the sensors…I got 15 of them and half drain batteries in just a few days…the only manageable solution I found is to use good quality rechargeable lithium batteries…still I have to replace them around every 10 days…but in the end should be less expensive than disposable alkaline batteries…

Good luck!

That is not how they should work. The ones I bought years ago can go for a year with 1 set of batteries. They have changed something in the past years and it’s not good.

I have sent you a private message, please check if you received it?

Sorry for the inconvenience.
Engineers are already investigating this issue, which will take some time. Once completed, they will provide a new solution. I will let you know.
Thank you for your time and patience.
