Working Lights not coming on on 306t

I just bought a 306T. My aquarum heater works fine plugged in but when I plug it into the inkbird it will not come on. My heater is set to 77 or so and I set the inkbird to 77, with 2 degree variation. I have never seen the working light come on even if the heater is on…it will immediately turn off. I tried waiting until it came to temp, moved the plug to the inkbird and the temperature slowly dropped. Do I need to set the inkbird above the desired temp? Please advise. Tnx
