Hello i m after some advice please. I want my ITC-308 to turn my tortoise hibernation fridge OFF if the temperature measured by the probe inside the fridge drops to below 4c. Could anyone explain what settings i need for TS, CD, HD etc to achieve this please
Thanks in anticipation.
Hello,
The principle of the ITC-308 is, when the temperature reaches/ lower than TS (temperature setting value) - HD (heating difference value), it will turn on the heater, turn off at TS.
When the temperature reaches/ higher than TS + CD (cooling difference value), it will turn on the cooler, turn off at TS.
For example, you want to maintain 25°C, temperature range is 23°C ~28°C.
Please set TS=25, HD (heating difference value)=2, CD (cooling difference value)=3. When the temperature reaches/ lower than 23°C (TS-HD), it will turn on the heater, turn off at 25°C. When the temperature reaches/ higher than 28°C (TS+CD), it will turn on the cooler, turn off at 25°C.
Hi Tania, thank for the explanation which makes perfect sense. What I’m struggling to understand is the ‘turn the cooler on/off’ or ‘turn the heater on/off’. The only appliance i have plugged in to the Inkbird is the fridge and i have this plugged into the ‘cooling’ socket, there is nothing plugged into the 'heating ’ socket.
The probe is inside the fridge and my main concern is the temperature dropping too low. So if the probe reads a temperature which matches TS-HD will it still turn the fridge off even though the fridge isnt plugged into the heating element?
Thanks
If you don’t use a heater, please ignore the ‘TS-HD’.
TS is the shut-off value for heating output and cooling output.
HD settings will not affect cooling output.
For example, if you only use the cooling function, please plug the fridge into the cooling socket of ITC-308. When the temperature reaches or exceeds TS+CD, the cooling output will be turned on. When the temperature reaches TS, the cooling output will be turned off.
Got it, thanks. That makes sense. Have a good day
