Connection problems with Inkbird IN-14-BW

Hi,

I recently bought the Inkbird IN-14-BW Luxe (WiFi thermometer) to use with my oven and kamado. However, I’ve run into a problem: whenever I use the probe in the oven, the WiFi connection drops completely as soon as I close the oven door.

This makes it really difficult to monitor the cooking process, since the whole point of the WiFi feature is to keep track without opening the oven.

My questions are:

  • Is this behavior normal?

  • Is there a known solution or workaround to prevent the connection from being lost when the oven door is closed?

I’d really appreciate any advice or tips from other users who might have faced the same issue.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Please understand that the INT-14-BW probe is connected to the charging case via Bluetooth. The WIFI function is the connection between the charging case and the phone.

According to the description, it is likely due to signal interference caused by the oven’s material and thickness. This behavior is influenced by the characteristics of Bluetooth signals, which can be affected by the surrounding environment, such as metal barriers, nearby WiFi/RF/Bluetooth devices, or signal base stations.

Here are some suggestions to address the issue:

  1. Test with Another Oven or Scenario: If possible, try using the thermometer with a different oven or in another cooking scenario to see if the connection improves.

  2. Ensure Proper Placement: Make sure the charging case is within 3 meters of the probe and the probe is not wrapped in tin foil or placed in a cast iron pan, as these can block the signal.

  3. Reconnect the Probe: If the connection remains unstable, delete the probe from the INKBIRD app, place it back in the charging case to charge, and reconnect it.

  4. Temperature Range Check: Ensure the temperature is within the limits:

    • Food Temperature: -10~100°C (14~212°F)
    • Ambient Temperature: 0~300°C (32~572°F)
Exceeding these limits can damage the probe and affect its functionality.
