Ambient temperature alarm INT-14 BW

I recently purchased the INT-14 BW and tried using it today. Even though it registers the food and ambient temperature it seems it is ONLY possible to set an alarm for when the food is ready. It is not possible to set an ambient temperature range and have it alert you whenever the temperature in the grill is above or below this range. This pretty much makes the thermometer useless for long cooks as I have to keep staring at it the whole time. Seems very weird that inkbird have not launched the product with this feature as all it would take is tweaking the app. I have contacted INKBIRD and unless they are planning on fixing this issue very soon will be asking to return the item.

Does anybody else know any work arounds? Like adding it to IFTTT or Home assistant or anything like that?

Hello,
Sorry, INT-14-BW doesn’t have this feature .
I’ll send it to the engineers as a suggestion.

I have also purchased this device and found this basic requirement for a wireless thermometer missing, not very happy with this purchase

Very disappointed in the lack of this very basic function. Also surprising that it was not mentioned in any of the reviews of the product as it is such a major drawback. Have asked inkbird to return the products and am hoping they will be cooperative.

Unfortunately Inkbird has not accepted a return of the products as its been a little over 30 days since purchase, even though this was the first time they were used.

It is very strange that a huge flaw like this has not been mentioned in the product reviews as this makes it pretty useless for barbecuing. And considering the premium price tag of the INT 14-BW I was definitely expecting it to have basic functions like this.

For anyone on the lookout for a wireless bbq thermometer I would avoid inkbird and look at other brands.

I agree. It really needs this feature. My other probes have it. Must be able to set high and low.

Some other things I’d hope it has at this price range:

  • Needs to be able to predict cooking time remaining - e.g. I have it set to 50c, it should be able to estimate how long it will take to cook
  • The iPad app cannot work in landscape mode… why do apps do this I cannot fathom, just get it done.

In the days of AI and intelligent this and that, your app looks black and white. Probes seem great, software needs a bit of work.

Ambient temperature alarms is the bare minimum at this price range but also agree that those other features also would be expected at the asking price. All this would take is a tweak in the software to provide ambient alarms in the app (even if the hardware would not be able to give an alarm). As inkbird did not accept a return I am now stuck with this very expensive and poorly functioning thermometer so would appreciate if inkbird stopped sleeping on this and sorted it out.

Indeed, how much work is it to enable the ambient alarm in the app? My old ibt-26s in the same app have the feature.

I don’t believe that Inkbird care about it’s customers issues once they have got your money. As was stated this should be a simple fix but the don’t even acknowledge that they are trying to provide a solution. I will not waste any more of my hard earned cash on their products.

INKBIRD values the needs of users. If it is a feature that can be implemented, the engineers will try to complete it as much as possible. However, due to technical limitations, this feature cannot be added to the INT-14-BW.
The engineers have received the request for this feature and they will add it to new models in the future.
Thank you for your understanding & Sorry for the inconvenience.

I understand that it cannot be added to the thermometer or the base itself, but clearly adding an alarm to the app is simply a matter of tweaking the software and should be quite simple, or what other technical limitations are you referring to?

Please kindly understand that this function requires not only app support but also device firmware support. Device firmware involves data processing, transmission, software systems and algorithms, etc.
Considering the functional stability and user experience, if it is added directly, the probability of problems may increase. Therefore, this function cannot be added before the technical limitations can be resolved.
Sorry.

So the problem is more that inkbird is worried that they might introduce a bug if making software changes so they would rather not even try to resolve the issue?

Please understand that engineers are already paying attention to this demand and trying to solve it. However, the firmware limitations of INT-14-BW involve many aspects, and it takes time to solve these technical limitations.
They also plan to add this function to new models in the future.
Thank you for your patience and support.

Are there any update for this? It feels so stupid i need my old ibt-26s only to receive warnings for the ambient temperature. If i know before that the int-14-bw cannot push ambient warnings i never buyed this product.

Same here, It can’t be that hard to make a firmware update to fix this major issue

It would be good if they could add this fix to the existing product. As at this rate I won’t be buying their new offering

Totally agree with this!
This is mandatory for a good bbq experience. Please add this to the software. The probe can measure the ambient temperature. So why is it hard to add an alarm to the software??
