Alarms not working Samsung galaxy s25 ultra

I just bought a INT-14-BW onsale and it got delivered yesterday. Im pretty stoked and just want it to work properly with my phone. I had the IBBQ-4T usong the same inkbird app with my samsung galaxy S23 ultra and this was NOT an issue.

Information for my phone:
-Galaxy S25 Ultra
-software ONE IU 7 android version 15
-IMEI: 358574631204197

Issue: i have gotten the app to push through notifications while running in the background, however alarms (very different from a brief notification) will only sound off with the app open and running.

Why its important to me:
obviosuly i want to do overnight cooks and be able to wake up at certiam temperatures to completel specific tasks without setting my phone alarm just to check to see if ive reached the tmep yet. A very important and key feature needed for ANY meater probe of this price point.

Steps ive take to resolve the issue so please do not reply and ask me to repeat them:

-ive gone through all settings on both my phone and on the inkbird app. All notifocations are allowed on both ends. Push notifications is turned on through the app along with all permissions i can possibly grant have been grnated from my phone (likely more than are needed).

  • ive changed battery settings from my phone and tried all 3 options (restricted, optimize, and unrestricted). This has not solved the issue.
  • ive gone through special access settings on my phone and ensured everything there has been granted that can possibly be granted (including alarms and reminders being toggled on)
  • ive used GRONK ai version 3 and chat gpt apps and had it walk me through every possible solution that it could come up with, and when they ran out of ideas it recommended reaching out to both inkbird and samsung
  • i emailed inkbird. Which replied with a few solutions (all of which i had already tried) and then said if these failed to let them know and they’d escalate to their engineers.
  • i chatted with samsung for hours online. And they even controlled my phone for well over 3 hours and tried everything they could possibly think of as well to fix it, still couldn’t get it to work (they tried changing every setting, permission and access they knew to attempt to change). They recommended reaching out to inkbird (which i had already done).

Where I’m at now:
At his point, i don’t think there is anything else that can be done to actually resolve the issue without inkbird coming out with a software patch. I haven’t used the probes yet, only tested the settings. I may return it if there isnt a solution in the near future. Which would be a shame. I really enjoyed my prior inkbird with my prior phone and never had an issue.
-i did find a work around, however its not a great fix. You can download 3rd party apps that keep your screen from falling asleep, so that the inkbird app stays open and the alarm sounds. This isn’t ideal, but it would work for anyone that wants to do it this way (if you have the same issue however its too late to return the probe).
