I have two ITC-308 WiFi controllers used to control temperatures in my beer fermenters. They were working flawlessly for over two years and still are but earlier this year I started having problems connecting to them remotely and monitoring temperatures.
I decided to look into this today and have spent over two hours trying to get t,his working again. What I found was that I was using the Inkbird Pro App (iPhone & iPad) and that App was discontinued in May of this year. I downloaded the new Inkbird App and have been unsuccessful in getting either device to connect to my WiFi. I have read the FAQs and have gone into my router settings and disabled 5GHz and 6GHz WiFi. I have downloaded the AirPort app to verify I am operating on 2.4GHz WiFi. I am - channel 11. I have tried both the quick connection and the ‘App’ ways of adding the controller to the App. I have set airplane mode on the iPad and iPhone which in theory should force 2.4GHz connection. I have power cycled the router many times and power cycled the controllers and iPad.
I am not sure I can do anything else. Is there a way of factory resetting these controllers? Is this a known problem with the new Inkbird app?
Hello,
Maybe you can use ITC-308-WIFI slow flash mode to connect?
It is a one-to-one connection method, and the connection effect will be more stable.
Please refer to troubleshooting:
If it still doesn’t work, maybe you could try the hotspot connection test mentioned in the post? That could help further check what the problem is.
I spent another couple of hours on this today and failed in getting my two ITC-308 units to connect. I tried unplugging one unit in case two trying to connect was messing things up and I tried the normal way of connecting and the ‘App’ or slow flash way of connecting. I also turned off the 5GHz and 6GHz modes on the modem and checked that the phone was on the 2.4GHz connection using the AirPort app. Also based on other posts here I tried turning off the Cellular connection and tried the phone in Airplane mode.
The Inkbird App is the latest version and I am running the latest iOS v18 on the phone and iPad. These units were working correctly on the old Inkbird Pro App and I wish Inkbird hadn’t discontinued it. Very frustrating. Is there a way of factory resetting these controllers?
The INKBIRD app has been updated recently, please make sure you are using the latest version.
If you want to reset the WIFI function of ITC-308-WIFI, please press and hold its ‘up’ button for 3-5 seconds to make the WIFI indicator flash, and its WIFI function will be reset.
Please note that the router wireless protocol cannot be 11 only.
To avoid omissions, please check the configuration details:
In the phone settings, all permissions for the INKBIRD app are turned on.
The Bluetooth and location functions of the phone are turned on.
Please ensure that the router can transmit 2.4GHz wifi signal alone, and the mobile phone remains connected to the 2.4GHz wifi that can access the Internet. Please make sure the SSID of the 2.4GHz wifi is not hidden. The password cannot be blank.
Router settings are as follows:
Wireless protocol: 802.11 b/g/n, but cannot be set to 11n only;
Security mode: WPA/WPA2
Authentication type: AES
Enable DHCP service
No VPN service.
The hotspot connection test mentioned earlier can also help us check the device’s WIFI function.
If it still has problems, is it possible to provide the order information and a video of how you connected the device to the email support@inkbird.com?
This helps engineers check if there are any details that have been overlooked.
Since forum posts are public, these may involve private information, please do not reply here.
Thanks.
I am also having ITC-308 WIFI connection
problems, however I have managed to connect one of my Inkbirds to WiFi but cannot connect the second one which is my original one and was connected last winter. Both Inkbirds can be seen on my Inkbird smart App but only one is connected to WiFi. I have now downloaded the Inkbird App which finds the device but cannot connect it. Do I need to remove the Inkbird from Inkbird smart App and retry connecting in Inkbird App
