ITC-306A bad probe?

I have a new ITC-306A. I set it up a few days ago and it seemed to be working until last night.

Now, I am getting E4 errors and bogus high temperature readings. It constantly reads around 96F, even though the water temperature is about 67F.

If I take the probes out and hold them in my hand to warm them up, it seems to fix the problem momentarily. The reading comes back down to around 68F. But after about a minute I get an E4 alarm, then the display changes back to 96F. This happens whether they are in the water or sitting out in the air.

Are there any other troubleshooting steps I can take or is one of the probes just defective and reading 96F all the time? Is there a way to see the two different probe readings and not just the higher one?

Hello,
Sorry, the ITC-306A will only show one reading.
Just to confirm, are the two probes of the ITC-306A placed side by side?
If the two probes are cleaned and dried, and tested side by side in air, does it still read incorrectly?
If yes, please provide your order information and photos of the problem ITC-306A to email support@inkbird.com.
