I have done everything I can think of to pair my iphone with the IBBQ-4T and nothing works. I have the latest ios on my phone so that can’t be it. We have the one Gig internet so it isn’t the internet or wifi. I didn’t try to set it up right after I got it as I was being lazy. I let it get past the warrantee period so I am stuck with a thermometer that so far I can’t use and can’t send back. Any suggestions?
Hello,
May I know if this IBBQ-4T can connect to phone before?
Please understand that it has limitations on the settings of the router, maybe you can refer to this troubleshooting:
All of this I have tried, my router is a 2.what ever and a 5. The unit has never worked at all. I know I should have tried it sooner but I just didn’t need it sooner.
The good news is this, inkbird is sending me a new unit to replace the defective one, even with the unit being out of the warrantee period. You can’t beat that kind of service, I changed my review to as high as I could get it, inkbird is a VERY upstanding company and I will order from them again.
Once I get the new unit I will let you know how it goes. I appreciate the response.
I got the new IBBQ-4T thermometer last week. This one does the exact same thing. All is well until it get to the end of the pairing time, every time it says “Failed”. I have spent hours trying to pair this unit to my phone. I have done exactly what the instructions say. I just give up.
I can’t say anything bad about inkbird, they have truly gone out of their way to help me, there is just something that is just not working no matter what I do. I even wrote to them and offered to send this second unit back to them since they were so nice to me. They sure didn’t have to be.
Sorry to hear that the new thermometer still doesn’t work .
Please understand that IBBQ-4T has requirements for mobile phone and router settings. If both IBBQ-4Ts cannot connect, this is a rare situation.
Just to avoid overlooking details, these are the settings that need attention:
- In the phone settings, all permissions for the INKBIRD app are turned on.
- The Bluetooth and location functions of the phone are turned on.
- Please ensure that the router can transmit 2.4GHz wifi signal alone, and the mobile phone remains connected to the 2.4GHz wifi that can access the Internet. Please make sure the SSID of the 2.4GHz wifi is not hidden. The password cannot be blank.
- There is no limit on the number of connected devices to the router. If you are not sure whether the upper limit has been reached, please turn off 2-3 WIFI devices.
Router settings are as follows:
Wireless protocol: 802.11 b/g/n, but cannot be set to 11n only;
Security mode: WPA/WPA2
Authentication type: AES
Enable DHCP service
No VPN service.
If you are willing to try again, maybe you can try the hotspot connection method? This method can be used to rule out whether the router settings cause pairing failure, but it requires two mobile phones.
Please also make sure you are using the latest version of the INKBIRD app, not the BBQ-4T app or the INKBIRD pro app.
Hotspot connection method:
- Turn on the hotspot of phone A, it will work as a 2.4GHz wifi router. Phone A is placed next to the product.
- Phone B connects to the hotspot of phone A, and downloads the INKBIRD app.
- Phone B connects to the product as instructed by the app.
Sorry for taking up your time.
