Hi,
I just bought a new IIC-800-WIFI and I’m facing a problem.
As soon as the unit is powered, voltage is delivered on all outputs !!
As I’m using motorized ball valves, they just start opening..
Did you ever face such a problem or am I facing a defective unit ?
I have another IIC-800WIFI which is 3 years old, and I don’t face this kind of problem.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
What you are experiencing does not seem right. So double check your connection to the controller is in accordance with manual.
The switching is via semi conductors not relay contacts.
Try placing a low wattage 24 volt filament globe inplace of the motorised gate valve. If it comes on on start up there could be an issue with the controller. If not try connecting the motorised gate valve in parallel. (ie across the same connections).
If this works repeat for other zone connections.
Alternatively you could put relays on each zone connection. But you should not need to.
Understand that your post does not provide any power requirement specifications for the motorised Gate valve so my response tries to offer trial and error actions to gain more understanding of what might be the problem.
I hope this helps!
Hi, tahanks for your advices.
I double checked the wiring, but not too much to verify.
The motorized ball valves caracteristics are:
- 9 to 24 V AC or DC.
- Max power = 5W.
They are working really well with my old IIC-800-WIFI .
With this new one, they just start to open as soon as the IIC-800-WIFI is powered.
I understand the swithcing is done with semi conductors, but it was also the case on my old IIC-800-WIFI and I never faced the problem.
You’re welcome if you have any other idea.
Best regards,
Without answers to the other tests that were suggested it’s hard to move forward. The motorised solenoid is 5 watts suggesting only 208 milli amps is required to operate the solenoid. Placing filament globes in parallel tells us more about what may be happening.
We need new information to move forward.
Connect the new solenoids to the old controller to prove the fact that they work with the older controller. Connect the old solenoids to the nee controller and advise what happens.
Cheers
Hi,
I don’t have any low wattage 24 volt filament globe available.
But yes, I installed the valves on the older IIC-800-WIFI and they are working perfecly.
I mean, they are only opening when the zone is given the order to irrigate.
They remain closed all the rest of the time.
I don’t understand why their behavior is different on the new IIC-800-WIFI….
Did InkBird procedeed with a design change in the semi conductors driving the outputs ?
Or is the product I received defective ?
I don’t know.
Best regards,
If you connect a motorised valve to the pump connection M&C does it operate immediately?
It too should only operate when there is an active Zone.
There is a small chance that you get different results. I understand it to be the same circuit as each Zone. So expecting same results that it activates immediately.
If it does seek a replacement.
HI,
Based on your advice, I tried to connect my motorized ball valve on the Master output.
The symptom is the same: As soon as the IIC-800-WIFI is powered (AC adapter connected to the wall socket), the valve opens.
Same symptom as all the other outputs (1 to 8).
I am struggling to suggest further tests that are perhaps within your resources to try to confirm if the unit is faulty or not other than by a replacement.
