I have had an inkbird itc-308-wifi for a number of years and it’s worked really well up until now. I have updated my internet service and changed routers. I can’t get the inkbird to connect despite following all the instructions online. When i press the up(wifi) button, the letters APP appear for a second or two before dissappering, the wifi ligt flashes but i can’t connect through the app on my phone. The router supports 2.4 GHz too. Any idea what the issue is?
Hello,
Please refer to the following troubleshooting details:
Check WiFi Name and Password:
Ensure the WiFi name (SSID) and password entered in the app are correct, with no extra spaces or incorrect capitalization.
Verify Router Settings:
Ensure the router supports 2.4GHz WiFi and is not set to 11n only.
Wireless protocol: 802.11 b/g/n.
Security mode: WPA/WPA2.
Authentication type: AES.
Enable DHCP service.
Disable VPN service.
Ensure the 2.4GHz WiFi has a unique SSID if the 5GHz WiFi shares the same name.
App and Phone Settings:
Turn on all permissions for the INKBIRD app in your phone settings.
Enable Bluetooth and location services on your phone.
Ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Connection Process:
Use the slow flash mode to connect:
Press and hold the ‘up’ button on the ITC-308-WIFI until “APP” appears, then release it. The WiFi indicator should flash slowly.
Open the app, select AP mode, and enter the WiFi name and password.
When prompted, connect your phone to the ‘smartlife-xxx’ hotspot in your phone’s WiFi settings.
Return to the app and confirm to complete the connection.
Test with Two Phones:
If the above steps fail, try using two phones:
Turn on the hotspot of Phone A (set to 2.4GHz) and place it near the ITC-308-WIFI.
Connect Phone B to the hotspot of Phone A and download the INKBIRD app.
Use Phone B to connect the ITC-308-WIFI as instructed in the app.
If the product connects successfully using two mobile phones, the problem may be with the router settings. Please recheck the router settings.
Adding to one of Tina’s points. Dual WIFI Networks.
The later routers support both 2.4 and 5G but the negotiations to establish the 2.4G can fail. From experience I have set up on the router a fixed 2.4G network under a new name say Dev24. I connected my phone to that network and followed the setup procedures to connect the Inkbird device to it.
