IThis topic has been discussed before but I have not found the solution…
The Inkbird ITC-308 WIFI app is a perfect device for my pool. Since yesterday the app does not work anymore, already done everything…Found out that we now have 5G, and no more 2.4G. Is there and trick to make this fantastic device still work with the app again?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
Sorry, The ITC-308-WIFI can only connect to the app via 2.4GHz wifi, it does not support 5GHz wifi.
My WiFi is 5GHZ but I’ve got an extender because the WiFi wasn’t covering the kitchen. I found that the extender is operating at 2.4 GHZ so I can use the inkbird in the kitchen no problem. The extender is a cheap TP Link model.
It seems general with all these sorts of devices, that they only do 2.4ghz.
Any ideas why. And who is going to be the first to use 5Ghz
A lot of wifi routers “combine” 2.4 and 5g into one SSID. On my Netgear it’s called Smart Connect. Smart devices will pick the best signal to connect to. Inkbird will not. I had to go into the router and turn off that setting so I had 2 SSID’s one 2.4 and one 5g. I connected my phone to the 2.4 SSID and setup my device. Then I connected my phone to the 5g SSID and I still had control.
