Don’t need to return it.
Go to the app and find a section when you can invite others. It’s under Me - Home Management section - (your home) then add member.
You even give them admin permissions if you like!

I added my wife , we accepted the invitation but it still says “no device found”

So she installed the app on her phone right? Once accepted should be fine after she load the home (yours) . Not sure about iPad, I think it would be sideways as just for iPhone I think.
