Hello. I purchased two inkbirds 306wifi off BRS for my RedSea G3 S1000 which I set up late August. For reference, I have the Redsea salinity/temp probe, their PH/temp probe, their standalone temp probe, their ATO temp and two additional temperature probes from the two Aquatop 1000w heaters that I have. Each inkbird is connected to one heater. I purchased a Thermoworks NIST certified thermometer with an accuracy of +/-0.01 F. and used that to calibrate the inkbirds as temperature stability is my goal. My inkbirds are set to 77.6-78.1. I noticed that I kept getting warnings from ReefBeat regarding temperature. Today, I was home and decided to pay attention to the problem. ReefBeat was showing my temperature swinging from 77.2/3ish all the way to 79… obviously, not what I or any reefer is after. Keep in mind, that’s 4 different probes saying the same thing. I opened my sump, sat on my couch and just looked at the inkbirds. I noticed that while every other probe, including the aquatop, gradually increased by 0.1 while my inkbirds went from 77.6 slowly to 77.9. The first one (let’s just call it inkbird 1) after about 20 minutes of reading 77.9, while the other probes had gone to 78.4 and continued climbing, suddenly jumped from 77.9 to 78.4 in a matter of 2 seconds or less and turned off its heater. Inkbird 2, which I recorded, kept reading 78.0, then after about another 10 minutes, jumped to 78.2 instantly and turned off its heating element. Meanwhile all other probes had gone from the low 77s to 78.7-9… Any idea what is causing this? I can only imagine that this isn’t normal. If you’d like, I can share the video of if happening on camera. I’ve now seen it freeze and suddenly spike go up and down which explains my almost 2 degree temperature swing every heating cycle which is way more than my .5 presets with inkbird of 77.6-78.1.
